Sergeant Bragg has served with the Rochester Police Department since August of 1997.

Following his graduation from Taylorville High School, he attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. While in college, he served two years as a co-captain of the football team and was also twice chosen as the teams Defensive Most Valuable Player.

After college, Kent accepted a position with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office (IL) where he served seven years as a Correctional and Training Officer. Prior to accepting his current position with the Rochester Police Department, Kent also served as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Morgan County.

Kent was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2001 and then to Sergeant in 2003. Sergeant Bragg serves as a First Line Supervisor and the Second in Command. He is a 2006 graduate of the FBI National Academy (Session 227) in Quantico, Virginia.

Sergeant Bragg also has held Instructor Certifications in the following areas; Police Firearms, DARE, Control and Arrest Tactics (CAT), Traffic Radar/Lidar, Simunition/Scenario, GRACIE Retention and Control Ground Fighting, Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol (OC) Spray, ASP Baton, Rapid Deployment and Physical Fitness Specialist from the Cooper Institute.
